Company Overview

Safe Patient Solutions, LLC, manufactures the ResQUp and wholesales the ResQUp to durable medical equipment suppliers, eCommerce retailers, and retail outlets who serve the end-user retail market. We drop ship to retail customers of ecommerce distributors and health care facilities, including the Veterans Administration in all 50 states and US territories.

The ResQUp is a novel fall recovery and mobility aid that complements established fall management programs in rehabilitation centers, hospitals/clinics, adult care facilities, and especially in-home settings. Our product focus is on wheelchair users who need a wide variety of tools to assist in daily living activities. Getting down to, and up from, the floor safely using no or minimal assistance from a caregiver is an important extension to a wheelchair user’s mobility.

Product Differentiators

A fallen person uses the ResQUp by moving from the floor to each level of the device in turn, before finally ascending to a seat height, a wheelchair, or standing up directly from a seated position on the top level to a walker, rollator, or other patient assist. Any of the following three methods may be used safely.

Methods of Use Instructions

Backwards

Shadow of man using ResQUp backwards
  • This method has the fallen person back up to the ResQUp and scoot up to each level, placing their hands on the padded handles to lift themselves up to wheelchair level with or without the use of their legs for strength

  • This method requires more upper body strength than the other methods

Sideways

Shadow of man using the ResQUp sideways
  • The fallen person turns to their strongest side and uses their elbows and at least one leg to push themselves up to each level of the ResQUp in turn, and then transfer to wheelchair or seat

  • This method requires some leg strength and less upper body strength than the other methods

Forwards

Shadow of man using the ResQUP Forwards
  • The fallen person moves forward up each level of the ResQUp, using the padded handles at each stage for maximum stability and balance

  • This requires putting more pressure on the hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, and knees but feels more natural for some users

Methods of Use Videos

As tools that improve the quality of life of wheelchair users, and others prone to falling, mobility devices must accommodate their physical limitations while enhancing accessibility and independence. The videos below illustrate methods for using the ResQUp and how a single device can be used in multiple ways.

Extending Wheelchair Accessibility

Being able to access the floor safely extends the benefit of fall recovery to wheelchair users who want increased mobility in day-to-day activities. Every physical disability demands precise movements involving muscle strength and coordination, as spoken by this user, during all wheelchair transfers.

Unique Wheelchair Transfer

This wheelchair user developed a custom method for making transfers to and from floor level that accommodates his paraplegia. The ResQUp is a versatile tool that can be used daily while reducing transfer injuries.

Which Method is Best?

Depending on individual needs and circumstances, there are three basic methods for using the ResQUp for fall recovery and transfers. Wheelchair users and people who fall should review each method in this video and decide which one is the best suited for them.

Physical Considerations

Each of the three methods of using the ResQUp has some physical requirements for the user. This video outlines the important aspects to consider before choosing ResQUp.
